Flat cap
A flat cap is a hat that covers the top of the head, with a front visor attached to a unstructured section of fabric. The flat cap is seen to date as far back as the 14th Century in England and also Italy. The cap was originally called a bonnet until the 1700s and in Scotland is known as a bunnet. They are usually made from tweed or wool with a cotton or silk for the inner lining. Flat caps became frequently worn in the 1920s particularly amongst the working class with upper class men wearing the hat in different fabrics. The hat may also be known as a golf cap.
