Vans and Taka Hayashi team up again
Hitting stores from December 16, the limited edition, Vibram-soled shoes will sell for $200 and have been created by skateboarder, artist and designer Taka Hayashi.
Japanese-born and American-raised, the Southern California native is a revered name in street and skate design circles. Having previously designed for Stussy, Hayashi began a creative collaboration with Vans on the Vans x Taka Hayashi line, which is now in its ninth installment. Previous models have been influenced by Native American beadwork, perforated tribal patterns and Pendleton woolen panels.
The latest effort, the TH 008 LX, starts with the traditional English dress shoe profile, built on a Vibram Cristy outsole. Made from premium materials, the shoe features sneaker-styled paneling, intricate embroidery and perforation detailing. There’s a choice of two colors, a ‘Glazed Ginger’ edition in suede, and a Dark Navy in oiled nubuck.
