Van Cleef & Arpels creates watch for charity auction
The world’s first charity watch auction, Only Watch, will once again see 38 of the biggest watch manufacturers come together to raise money to combat Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Each one of the watchmakers will donate a unique timepiece that they have created especially for the occasion, which will then be auctioned off with the proceeds going to charity.
Before the main event in Monaco on September 28, an exhibition of the timepieces will travel around the world visiting Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, New York, and Geneva.
This is the fourth year that French jewelry, watch, and perfume company Van Cleef & Arpels have contributed to the auction, with a watch inspired by the Mediterranean city state. Called ‘Complication Poétique’, the blue and white watch features a rotating lapis-lazuli disk surrounded by diamonds and white gold.
Other brands that have created bespoke timepieces for the event, which was launched under the patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco, include Chanel, Piaget and Bell & Ross.
