The Kooples go back in time with new film
Accrording to the latest short film by The Kooples, “In the age of Rock ‘n’ Roll, there was no limit, no fear.”
Photographer-turned-actor James D. Kelly and his real-life girlfriend, Norwegian model Martine Lervik, star as the star-crossed lovers in a story that moves between the present day and the British biker gangs of the 1950s/60s. Tim Ahern plays the older version of Kelly’s ‘Mick’, facing up to decisions made decades earlier.
The five-minute long film was directed by Nicolas Jack Davies and Frederick Scott, who have created films for Dr. Martens and musician Laura Marling, and were also nominated for a Grammy this year for their live film for Mumford & Sons, “The Road To Red Rocks.”
It was shot on location at the famed Ace Café in London, which is something of a mecca for retro-motorcycle culture and has featured in classic films like “The Leather Boys”, and the film’s rock ‘n’ roll aesthetic pefectly matches the brand’s men’s and womenswear pieces, which were styled by Anne-Catherine Frey and Seo In Choi.
Kelly and Lervik aren’t shy: they’ve appeared in a short film for the brand before where they talk about how they met, and their love of dive bar dancing clubs.
