PFW: polka dots and magma at Christine Phung
Cut-outs and wide knits that allow the skin to show through, elements of sporty style combined with couture tailoring, and plenty of polka dots: these are among the defining characteristics of Christine Phung’s latest collection.
Volcanic eruption and hot magma are among the themes that inspired the designer this season. “It’s the story of a woman riding her bike on a volcano in Italy,” the invitation states. So it’s no surprise that the collection had a primarily black, white and red color scheme, and the polka dots at the end of the show offering a synthesis of these elements.
The makeup on the runway also reflected the magma theme: each model wore bright, almost glowing red eyebrows.
Red shorts showing through a jacket with an open knit, delicately pleated dresses, fabrics worked at the back to reveal a few inches of skin: it’s all about the details in this collection, which is at once fluid and structured.
