Paris haute couture: highlights from Serkan Cura
If we take two things from this very offbeat couture collection, it’s feathers and corsets. Cura, who earned his stripes during his several years at Jean Paul Gaultier, clearly knows just how to construct this sexy garment and — especially — how to reinvent it. In bright green, white, hot pink, neon or silver, corsets were all over the runway, whether paired with pants or with an enormous skirt.
But even more striking was the couturier’s work with feathers, which were seen in all shapes and sizes. Long and soft ones were draped alongside a skirt or a jacket, while short ones accented the curves of a structured corset or added a touch of softness to straight pants. Finally, there were the tall and majestic feathers that stood in a fan across the bustier of a breathtaking bridal dress.
In terms of accessories, jewelry provided the finishing touch in several looks, which would not be complete without their oversize necklaces. Very high fashion indeed.
