Paris haute couture: highlights from Ralph & Russo
Inspired by the photos of Massimo Listri, this couture collection is all about opulence, even more so than the brand’s previous lines. The lacework is exquisite and elaborate, whether adorning a dress or pants, and the materials are rich and luxurious.
The show opened with a palette of soft colors — glacier blue, white, mauve — before progressively venturing into bolder territory. Along with the colors, the cuts and the materials also evolved: from delicate lace to voluminous skirts and drapery, the transition hinged upon an ensemble pairing pants with a fluid top and an extravagant train.
Next came airy muslins and rich satins, followed by imposing dresses in red, royal blue and bright purple. The final looks included petticoats enhanced with tulle, as if to give them more character and edginess. The color scheme even switched to black for a moment before returning to the previous vibrant shades.
But the pressure dropped pretty quickly with the presentation of the grand finale: a soft wedding gown made with immaculate, light lace.
