Paris fashion week: highlights from day 3, the later shows
Barbara Bui
Loose-fitting or oversize garments were omnipresent in the French designer’s latest collection, which emphasized contrasts between thick, warm pieces (namely chunky knits) and extremely lightweight, transparent ones. Sheepskin and leather lent a primal tone to the collection, as did abstract prints evoking the motifs of animal hides or turtle shells, worn in pants, jackets and coats, often all in the same outfit. Among the collection’s signature pieces: a poncho combining shearling and a chunky knit.
Nina Ricci
The looks on the runway were ethereal, romantic, and often enchanting: three words that have always been associated with the Nina Ricci fashion house. Peter Copping designed ultra-feminine pieces, accentuating slender waists and short tailoring (almost all of the skirts rose above the knee). Different materials were combined harmoniously (leather, knits, fur), and some looks featured cutout designs. In terms of colors, models wore a number of neutral tones (grey, black, burgundy) but also brighter shades (red, pink) and floral prints.
Lanvin
The collection designed by Alber Elbaz is all about bringing out the purest expression of the feminine form: accentuated waists, glamorous tailoring and transparent effects, all in sophisticated colors. Black was clearly the signature color in this collection. Feminine details such as feathers and fringes adorned the clothes and even the accessories (hats in particular). In terms of materials, leather, fur and tweed were predominant.
Gosia Baczynska
The Polish designer also paid tribute to the feminine silhouette, presenting body-conscious and extremely short pieces, including a gold mini-dress that did not go unnoticed. A number of pieces seemed directly inspired by military uniforms, complete with sculpted shoulders and medals as decorations. There was even a gold military jacket, which garnered plenty of positive buzz on social networks following the show.
