The latest collection from 3.1 Phillip Lim maintained the designer’s interest in sporty, wearable, fun pieces for the younger woman about town, but added in some fun dialectical conflicts: exposure vs protection, light vs dark and luxe vs streetwear.

The designer also revealed a bedroom inspiration, not moving straight to the sexy boudoir vibes, but initially focusing on the quilting on a mattress, with the sheer and semi sheer layers of a semi-clothed body juxtaposed with a trellis cloque fabric that ran through the collection.

Silk-covered cords were draped around the curves of the silhouettes, designed to mimic and emphasize a woman’s own shape and flowing over cut-outs exposing collarbones, shoulders, ribcages, and a hint of décolletage.

There were also plenty of utilitarian elements, from to the Judo belts (which also appeared at BCBGMaxAzria) to the zip-up sporty jackets and drawstring luxe sweatpants. The models’ high-heeled sandals also sported utility rope straps.
