MFW: sophisticated textures at Ermanno Scervino
Ermanno Scervino opened with a series of intricate woven raffia dresses, coats, and separates. These lovingly worked fabrics were also joined by similarly stunning lace, first in black, then later in a series of ice white looks. Leather was another key theme with a few slick suede pieces also arriving in the soft blues and greens that this collection mostly focused on.
There were also fur collars on jackets (a pan-seasonal quirk that a lot of Milan designers are going for this fashion week), and fantastic pale blue tailoring and shirting with rose petal appliqué work. These were then joined by a floral brocade, alongside python prints and some closing metallic looks. The accessories included fun little box clutches designed like Chinese food takeout containers which matched various textures and finishes used on the clothes.
As is the trend this season, the runway also featured a surprise casting choice: this time around it was Brazilian model and Victoria’s Secret ‘Angel’ Izabel Goulart. Models’ hair was pulled up high into loose buns, held in place with a banded braid, and the makeup look included soft rouge on the cheeks and pale pink lips, but not much more.
