London Fashion Week: looks from the first shows

The South Korean-born Central Saint Martins-trained designer showed sporty knits and tailored separates. Most pieces came in solid colors, some with a contrasting houndstooth motif (stitched, intarsia and then laser cut) and others featured a soft tartan check. Models also trod the runway in lace-up shoes with squared-off soles.
Felder Felder
German designers Daniela and Annette Felder sent out a collection packed with cut-outs and sheer panel inserts which appeared on washed-out military green color dresses and separates, contrasted with a bright pink. Laser-cut leather and suede pieces in Rorschach-style patterns added some technical details, while the colorful sunglasses upped the fun factor.
Jean-Pierre Braganza
Braganza served up a slice of postmodern baroque in a collection packed with drapey tailoring, plenty of layered looks, boxy volumes and digital print outerwear. Shoes came with metallic platforms or covered in dyed purple fur.
Bora Aksu
Another talent from the Central Saint Martins stable, Turkish designer Bora Aksu’s collection played with lace and leather worked into pencil skirts and baggy shorts, and a silhouette which went big on the shoulders and nipped in at the waist. Models wore peasant braids and bows in their hair.
DAKS
The British heritage label’s show featured models in giant fur bearskin hats and fur skirts, check-print smock tops and a range of tailored pieces in caramel, black, red, khaki green and metallic wools and leathers. High-heeled shoes and boots came with a buckle-loafer detail.
