‘Juergen Teller: Woo!’ opens at the ICA in London
Known for his signature high-contrast 35mm work, German-born photographer Juergen Teller has shot famous campaigns for brands including Céline, Marc Jacobs and Vivienne Westwood and has helped shape a specific lo-fi aesthetic in high-level fashion photography.
Born in 1964 in Bavaria, Germany, Teller first moved to London after learning English to escape German military service. He started to build his career in the UK capital and has developed a dual career in fine art photography and fashion imagery.
The exhibition features some now classic shots of celebrities from the world of fashion, music and cinema including Kate Moss, Lily Cole, Kurt Cobain and Vivienne Westwood. It also focuses on more recent landscape and portrait work taken in and around the photographer’s Suffolk, UK home.
“Juergen Teller: Woo!” runs from January 23 to March 17.
