Japanese label Kolor special guest at Pitti Uomo
The Kolor show took place on June 20 in the Sferisterio in the Parco delle Cascine in Florence.
Like womenswear guest designer Damir Doma, who worked for Raf Simons, Junichi Abe has also been under the tutelage of a fashion great, working with Junya Watanabe at Comme des Garçons for five years. His Kolor label, launched in Tokyo in 2004, is a growing success.
The latest collection mixed print tailored looks, patchwork patterns and crumpled cotton suiting all in custom-developed Japanese fabrics. Models wore golden sandals and slip-on loafers with wide-leg shorts.
The fashion fair, which attracts press and buyers from around the world, saw a 2 percent rise in domestic Italian visitors, with Asian visitors up by 4.5 percent, many of them no doubt attracted by Kolor’s headline status.
Saturday, Milan menswear fashion week kicks off, featuring 37 shows from the likes of Prada, Gucci and Versace scheduled over four days.
