Givenchy launching new watch line, skipping couture week
This week Givenchy unveiled a brand new watch available in six color and material combinations (the last line of Givenchy watches was discontinued back in 2009). Named ‘The Seventeen’ after creative director Riccardo Tisci’s lucky number, they’ll be available exclusively at upmarket boutiques in Colette in Paris; Barneys in New York and Beverly Hills; Milan boutique 10 Corso Como; Boon the Shop in Seoul; and London’s Selfridges as well as select Givenchy stores. Set to go on wider release in September the watches will retail from €590 to €690.
After a no-show at the haute couture shows in January, the label has confirmed that it will be sitting out a second season in a row, citing a packed schedule. Tisci has busied himself this year creating tour costumes for popstars Rihanna and Beyoncé, as well as dressing the stars of a new ballet directed by his friend Marina Abramovic. The brand’s couture atelier will remain open though, creating new bespoke gowns
Set to run from July 1 to 4 this year, the Paris haute couture shows see the biggest names in fashion show off the skills of their secretive ateliers.
