Fashion films of the week: Chanel, Victoria Beckham and Rihanna

Mrs Beckham has released a 17-second teaser video featuring model of the moment Cara Delevingne to promote the upcoming revamp of her site.
It’s a cut-and-paste, call-and-response beauty: “what do people expect of me?” she asks, before umming a considered pause. “I think people expect the best.”
The brand new Victoria Beckham site is set to be unveiled at the beginning of February, regrouping a new online store for clothes and accessories on a new portal designed by King & Partners (previously digital branding gurus for Marc Jacobs).
Inside Chanel
With film from the famous Pathé archives, Chanel shows off footage of the 1932 Coco Chanel launch of the brand’s diamond and jewelry lines. It’s a fascinating look back at the days when one of the world’s biggest luxury labels showed their latest collections in glass cabinets, on perfectly coiffed wax busts (replete with real human hair!).
Discovered by Chanel’s researchers in the Pathé-Gaumont cinematographic archives, the short black and white film presents the “Bijoux de Diamants” exhibit held at Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel’s Parisian apartment from November 7-19, 1932 and would have run as a newsreel item before a film.
Rihanna for River Island
We’re getting very excited about Rihanna’s collaboration with UK highstreet label River Island and so is she, “I’ve wanted to design my own fashion line for a very long time” says the 24-year-old pop princess.
The black and white video sees Rihanna adjusting looks on fit-models, and eyeing up mood boards and color palettes. “Every time I saw something on a rack there was always something I wanted to do to change it” said the Barbadian, who has produced a new line of clothes for women and girls with “young, sassy personalities”.
Set to launch at the upcoming London Fashion Week, Rihanna also notes that “the British high street has the most fashionable kids.”
