Chess champion Magnus Carlsen poses for G-Star RAW

Twenty-two-year-old chess champion Magnus Carlsen is teaming up once again with the Dutch fashion label for a new campaign set to hit print and billboards next spring. 

Ranked number 1 in the world, the young player is up against current World Champion Viswanathan Anand next week, in a fight for the title set to take place in Chennai, India, November 7-28. 

According to the brand “Magnus embodies the spirit of unconventional thinking,” and he was picked as the face of its Fall-Winter 2010 campaign alongside Liv Tyler shot by photographer and filmmaker Anton Corbijn. He then starred alongside British actress Gemma Arterton in the Spring-Summer 2011 campaign.  

Founded in 1989, G-Star RAW has also featured actors Clémence Poésy and Vincent Gallo in campaigns. The Spring-Summer 2014 RAW campaign will go live in February 2014.
