Carolina Herrera Names Emilie Rubinfeld President

Caroline Herrera have named their former chief marketing officer, Emilie Rubinfeld, president of the fashion house.

Rubinfeld previously worked in a number of senior marketing roles at Giorgo Armani and Akris before joining Carolina Herrera as chief marketing officer in 2012. This news quickly follows the departure of chief executive Francois Kress. It is as yet unclear whether Rubinfeld will be replacing Kress in this new role or if another chief executive will be named.

Rubinfeld spoke affectionately about the brand. “Carolina Herrera has a very bright future ahead, I’m thrilled and honoured to lead this brand and company,” she said. “I have been working with Carolina Herrera for many years, she’s our inspiration everyday and the guiding light on our path to success.”

This role adjustment comes at a tumultuous time for the company. In December, Carolina Herrera filed a lawsuit against Monse designer Laura Kim for allegedly violating a non-compete agreement when Oscar de la Renta hired her and partner Fernando Garcia as co-creative directors in September. According to court documents Kress originally hired Kim with the aim to eventually replace Herrera without her knowledge. All parties reached a settlement earlier this month however.

Designer and founder Carolina Herrera addressed the executive changeover in a statement, “I am thrilled to have Emilie as president, she is a great leader and proven leader with a deep understanding and passion for the brand as well as a clear vision for our company. Our partnership will lead the company and brand towards an exciting future.”
