LFW: rich embellishment at Antonio Berardi

Here’s to crystals and flowers! Berardi’s collection was positively dripping with them this season, from zoomed-in imagery of petals and floral architecture, to a rich parade of colorful crystal embellishment. He opened with a silk floral in a mix of blues, powder pink and khaki, before the collection burst to life with a series of bright oranges and reds, as well as Asian influnces, from Chinese dresses to twisted kimono jackets in a silk brocade. 

There were more floral touches in knits and layered appliqué work on sheer pieces, with a streetwise streetwear touch from the bomber jackets worn over billowing evening gowns and cocktail dresses. Another perhaps subtler highlight was an amazing degradé blazer which moved from sheer silk at the shoulders to a deep tarry tuxedo black at the waist. Footwear-wise, Berardi’s girls strutted their stuff in metallic cage booties and sandals featuring further floral and crystal embellishments.
