Neil Barrett designs tour wardrobe for Justin Timberlake
For the summer/fall leg of The 20/20 Experience World Tour, Timberlake will be donning specially tailored new looks by the British designer. Neil Barrett has designed a wardrobe for the singer as well as his band and dancers, which debuted at Timberlake’s concert on May 23 at the Du Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Combining the brand’s signature sharp tailoring with streetwear influences, the pieces also riff on the Modernist and Bauhaus motifs in Barrett’s Spring-Summer 2014 collection.
Timberlake has previously worn Neil Barrett looks in music videos including “Take Back The Night” and Madonna’s “4 Minutes” and on-stage at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. Something of a connoisseur when it comes to his fashion choices, the 33-year-old singer had also enlisted the help of Tom Ford, who created the tailored looks for his “Suit & Tie” video as well as tour outfits for the singer and his backing talents.
All of this comes as part of a recent spate of male popstars catching up with the ladies when it comes to bespoke stagewear. Rapper Drake has had a special tour wardrobe created for him by Calvin Klein Collection menswear designer Italo Zucchelli, while last year Kanye West donned one-off looks (including custom, bejeweled couture masks) by Paris-based luxury brand Maison Martin Margiela.
