Autumn-Winter 2012/13 — Well known for its serious veneer, New York fashion week is synonymous with the power dresser. Stern, sleek and sophisticated embody so many collections here, and, it came as no surprise when Klein’s women imbued the above. Unsurprisingly, black dominated helped with a conservative helping of red and cream. The moulded silhouette meant sleeves were arced, skirts were tulip and dresses were stiff. Slick back hair along with minimalist makeup boarded on androgynous, this look was further purported with thick leather dresses, skirts and knee-high boots. One notable trend were the collarless coats, tops and dresses. The clothes screamed modernism; a true twenty-first century girl. The play with synthetics kept this collection fresh: felt-like fabric, wool and leather all created a cardboard and crinkled aesthetic. The clothes were smart, simple and straight to the point maintaining a minimalist flair and perpetuating a modern feel.
