Autumn-Winter 2012/13 — Burberry keeps growing into something bigger and better, the development into a global mega-brand; a brand transformation which has Christopher Bailey at its helm. AW validated this dominance and it put Burberry at the crux of the latest trend — the new emphasis on the hip; a tiny waist in contrast with the voluminous, otherwise ballooned hip. Herringbone tweed — resonating in so many collections — tailored coats and jackets. Country living aligned everything from tweed flat-caps, cord skirts and umbrella handles featuring gold fox faces. A playful-come-youthful element ambushed otherwise mature styles by way of coloured elasticated waist belts joined by sweet bows and cute t-shirts with owls or partridge sketched on them. Appliqué on peplum skirts, dark floral dresses and white cotton shirts added a touch of femininity against hued shades of olive, burgundy, plum, mustard and brown. It seem’s Burberry remains London’s fashion big-hitter.
