Alexander McQueen
Outono/Inverno 2010-11 – Lee McQueen’s final menswear show before his death showed prints and textures rivalled only by nature. He matched fabrics with the wallpaper he chose to cover his runway, his models possessed a quite sinister look and the country music reminded me of colonial hillbillies. The prints and colours were more like an old cocktail bar from the seventies with tan browns and burned yellows. The show developed into blacks, greys and white, keeping the sadistic atmosphere but bringing it darker, to rubbers and PVC, two tone coats with separate layers for each texture, ski mask showing only the models eyes and gloves, giving the impression that the clothes are all enveloping. It was less theatrical than his norm, but in keeping with the McQueen darkness.
