Tokyo Fashion Week: looks from the first days

Tamae Hirokawa was inspired by natural phenomena and the anatomy of the human body this season, sending out bouclé wool panels on jackets, digital prints, lace and embroidery, pleats and chunky knits in a range of autumnal tones with the odd shot of electrical color. 

Ujoh

Former Yohji Yamamoto protégé Mitsuru Nishizaki showed plenty of windowpane-check wool coats, loose tailoring, and digital woodland prints. A sporty touch was added with quilted panels on sweatshirts, and biker boots added to the relaxed vibe.

Sretsis

Thai designer Pim Sukhahuta cast model-du-jour Kiko Mizuhara in her Fall-Winter 2014 show. The collection had plenty of retro-appeal with giant pearl choker necklaces, more windowpane checks (with floral patterns on top), fur coats, and lace. Intarsia knit sweaters called for a very polite ‘Revolution’.
