Milan menswear: highlights from the weekend

Versace

Donatella Versace’s Cuba-inspired show was soundtracked by Latin versions of classic Kraftwerk tracks. Accessories included picnic basket backpacks (complete with Versace crockery) and chunky gold jewelry, while the clothes mixed power tailoring and more relaxed seaside looks featuring light lace and fishnet fabrics and finishes.

Bottega Veneta

Tomas Maier’s retro beach boys wore slouchy looks with ultralight summer knits, shorts and trousers rolled up to the knees. The tailored looks were equally relaxed with athletic wide-leg pants, and the color palette stuck with a refined mix of navy blue, sand, and olive tones.

Salvatore Ferragamo

The Florentine fashion house went with a 50s vibe best summed up by pajama-style shirting worthy of Tom Ripley. Quirky touches included a giraffe print and open-toed sandal-loafer hybrids which played off against more controlled elements including cuffed tailored shorts, and jackets and coats with belted details.
