Marni announced as menswear guest designer for next Pitti event in January
Marni creative director Consuelo Castiglioni is bringing her Fall/Winter 2015 menswear collection to Pitti Uomo early next year for the brand’s first menswear show since 2009.
“Pitti Uomo has always celebrated the avant-garde and experimentation,” explained the designer, who will “interpret the true menswear staples through functionality and classicism, combined with contrasting elements and unexpected details.” The brand is promising the usual mix of sporty, utility and tailored elements all in “a graphic and spontaneous language.”
Marni is also set to be joined by buzz-worthy New York City designer Shayne Oliver’s Hood By Air label who will produce a special event during Pitti Uomo.
“I saw their first event two years ago, and ever since then I have been struck by the unique creative process developed by the HBA,” explained Lapo Cianchi, communications and events manager of Pitti Immagine, “and by their distinctive way of making each, meticulously styled collection into a strong statement about gender, social class, power and beauty.”
That’s not all: the fashion shows will also be joined by “Cloakroom,” a new performance piece written and directed by Olivier Saillard and starring Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton.
This season’s theme is ‘Walkabout Pitti,’ inspired by the process of walking and traveling by foot. Recent labels to contribute to Pitti as guest designer include Croatian-German Damir Doma and Paris-based luxury house Kenzo.
