London menswear shows: highlights from the first day
Topman Design
The Topman Design director Gordon Richardson’s collection went heavy on eye-catching (although dark) outerwear and chunky knits for fall.

Alan Taylor
Oversized tailoring was covered with Matisse-influenced cut-out shapes in contrasting colors. We loved the flowing tweed suits and Bowie-esque looks of the models.

Bobby Abley
Models wearing dental retractors to keep their teeth bared wore sporty, Givenchy and McQueen-influenced pieces which riffed on Disney’s classic “Sleeping Beauty.” Abley’s signature black bear motif appeared too.

Craig Green
Flowing coats and robes brought to mind a sort of acetic, oriental religious wear. The black pieces were contrasted with bright, handmade prints in kaleidoscopic colors.

Xander Zhou
The Chinese designer mixed fashion and streetwear with minimalist school/club crests details and a diagonal stripe motif.
