Kenzo teases images from Fall/Winter 2014 campaign
This week will see the brand release new imagery from its Fall/Winter 2014 campaign each day, with videos and GIFs posted to the brand’s social media sites and the Kenzine blog.
The pictures feature Dutch-American model Guinevere Van Seenus (a fixture on the fashion scene over the past decade or so) and rising young British talent Robbie McKinnon wearing the brand’s Fall/Winter ready-to-wear collections.
It’s the third time that Kenzo creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have worked with the Toiletpaper trio, but Lim was keen to keep it fresh: “we were interested in figuring out ways to evolve the past concepts into something that felt different but still in the spirit of both Kenzo and Toiletpaper.”
With a collection inspired by the world of film and art visionary David Lynch, there was only one way to go: twisted and surreal, but with a dose of signature humor from Toiletpaper’s Maurizio Cattelan, Pierpaolo Ferrari, and Micol Talso. Key to the campaign was 36-year-old Van Seenus’s versatile talent in front of the camera:
“Guinevere really feels like a woman who could live in David Lynch’s world and could emulate the range of character one could see in his movies,” explained Leon. “We loved how she plays on the subtly ambiguous relationship with Robert.”
A video unveiled Monday shows off the New York City skyline, with the duo’s cartoonish caper plotted out with silent film slogans and surreal imagery (stuffed crows on your brogues, anyone?).
