Haute couture shows: evening highlights from day 3

Vionnet

British designer Hussein Chalayan celebrated long evening gowns and cocktail dresses to herald the return of the Vionnet fashion house during haute couture week. As seen in a number of other collections this season, pastels were omnipresent, along with refined and fluid fabrics. In particular, the designer emphasized organza, worn in layers, although more restrictive fabrics were also seen.

Julien Fournié

Delicate, feminine and romantic are without a doubt the words that best describe the French designer’s latest haute couture collection. Entitled “Premier Frisson” (“First Thrill”), this collection consists mainly of ethereal, airy pieces inspired by the dance world. The tailoring was graceful and the colors soft (silver, lilac, grey). While dresses were far more present than pants, one of the most remarkable looks was based on a pair of pleated jacquard trousers, worn with a gemstone top.

Giorgio Armani Privé

The Italian design house went retro with this collection, presented by models wearing scarves on their heads. Mainly in varying shades of blue, the looks played upon contrasting volumes above and below the waist; fairly tight jackets were worn over oversized pants or skirts for a chic yet relaxed result. On the red carpets, we can most likely expect to see the label’s shimmering bustier dresses, adorned with beads, rhinestones and glitter for an enchanting look.
