Giles Deacon serving up a Georgian Fashion Remix

Titled ‘Georgian Fashion Remix’, the event is in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Hanoverian succession to the throne. For anyone who hasn’t brushed up on their British political history recently, that’s the moment the Elector of Hanover, Georg Ludwig became George I, King of Great Britain and Ireland. The bewigged German aristocrat’s succession kickstarted what’s now known as the Georgian era. 

In celebration, Deacon has been back through his archives, and has picked out a selection of his most sumptuous pieces inspired by 18th century style. Milliner Stephen Jones has also joined in, providing hats for the show, which aims to explore the lasting legacy of Georgian cuts and design features. 

Set in the palace’s Orangery (designed by John Vanbrugh, the architect behind Blenheim Palace and Castle Howard), excitingly you too will be able to attend one of two shows, with tickets priced at £25 (approx €30), including drinks and canapés.

The show is part of the ‘Glorious Georges’ series of events designed to celebrate the Georgian era. Fashionistas might also be interested to know that the palace is also home to the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection, which contains 15,000 items of royal and court fashion running from the 17th century to the present day.
