Fred Perry honors Margate in Spring-Summer 2014 collection
For this nostalgic collection, Fred Perry called upon Paddy Smith, known for printing the scooter rally patches that became a hallmark of 1980s alternative fashion. Smith designed six retro patches inspired by the town of Margate, conjuring up images of weekenders enjoying the seaside air and scooter runs.
The “Margate on the Run” collection includes several polos for men and women, two parkas, a piqué shirt, a waxed cotton bomber jacket and a number of accessories.
While the collection includes some solid colors, the majority of the pieces feature prints, including one of the hottest prints of the coming season: camouflage. The new collection includes T-shirts, a bowling bag and a backpack in a classic army green camouflage print.
The Fred Perry “Margate on the Run” collection goes on sale from March 4. Prices range from €99 (around $135) to €419 (around $580).
