David Neville to Step Back at Rag & Bone
It has been announced that David Neville, currently the co-chief executive officer of the company Rag & Bone, will be stepping back, leaving Marcus Wainwright the sole CEO of the company. Neville will endure as an integral part of the company, remaining on the board of directors and one of the largest shareholders in the company.
Founded in 2002, the company has grown immensely in the last 14 years, now employing approximately 300 employees and operating 20 stores worldwide. “I remember when they came to see me the first time,” Andrew Rosen, former business partner to the pair, told Business of Fashion. “They didn’t have an office. They didn’t have an employee. Nothing. To put this kind of company together in 10 years, to have that kind of success? These guys have built an incredible, powerful voice in this space. I am so proud.”
Wainwright, now the sole CEO, and Neville have known each other since childhood, a bond that has fostered the successful rise of their mutual brand. “We’ve known each other since we were kids. To be able to build a brand from nothing showed an awful lot of determination, ambition, grit and trust in one another to make it happen,” Neville said of their partnership in a recent interview with Business of Fashion. “I think that people could always see that Marcus and I were very committed and dedicated to what we wanted to achieve.”
Neville leaves his position as co-CEO to pursue outside projects, including helping his wife, makeup artist Gucci Westman, launch a skincare and cosmetics line. Other pursuits will reportedly include investing in other new brands and designers. “I’m looking at investing in some fashion brands in the same way Andrew did with us all those years ago,” Neville remarked in the same interview. “I really enjoy the work that we do with the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. I find it exciting to go in and talk to some of these young brands about where they are and what they’re trying to achieve. I would love be able to give them some guidance the same way Andrew did with us back in 2006.”
