1205/Paula Gerbase installation at Dover Street Market

Last week 4th floor of Dover Street Market in New York City welcomed a new fashion installation by 1205. The structures, which hold the designer’s current Unisex Fall/Winter 2014 collection, were made by artist Edward Goolden with the assistance of Jake Churchill. The garments sit on indented steel rods held in place by metallic forms crafted from aged and distressed steel sheeting. 

Goolden worked with the sculptor Sir Anthony Caro for many years and continues with a role in the late Royal Academician’s studio, helping to restore his works.

It’s a fun project for Gerbase, who is certainly on the rise. Born in Brazil, Gerbase has a German mother and an Italian father, and grew up in the United States and Switzerland. After her studies at London’s Central Saint Martins, she trained at Hardy Amies in couture tailoring, before working as the head designer at Kilgour on Savile Row.

After setting up her own 1205 label in 2010, Gerbase was then named artistic director of luxury shoe brand John Lobb earlier this year.
