Karen Millen lands in New York City

Opening Thursday, Karen Millen‘s new Manhattan store sees the brand capitalize on “strong US demand for British fashion retailers.”

The 5,000-square-foot store is part of a new growth strategy that will see the brand’s partnership with Bloomingdales expand from 15 to 20 locations over the next three years, sitting alongside 13 other standalone US stores.

“There’s strong demand for British — especially London-led — creativity and design expertise across the world and particularly in the US,” explained CCO Gemma Metheringham. The new store joins the recently opened Brompton Road flagship in London, with the brand also unveiling the first taste of its new Fall-Winter 2014 campaign shot by Glen Luchford.

A pop-up leather atelier, matching the one in the brand’s Shoreditch store, will be creating bespoke leather jackets from September 10 for the following four weeks.

Karen Millen currently boasts 400 stores around the world, with new locations in Mexico, Norway, India and Taiwan planned for this year.
