The Kooples go back in time with new film

Accrording to the latest short film by The Kooples, « In the age of Rock ‘n’ Roll, there was no limit, no fear. »

Photographer-turned-actor James D. Kelly and his real-life girlfriend, Norwegian model Martine Lervik, star as the star-crossed lovers in a story that moves between the present day and the British biker gangs of the 1950s/60s. Tim Ahern plays the older version of Kelly’s ‘Mick’, facing up to decisions made decades earlier.

The five-minute long film was directed by Nicolas Jack Davies and Frederick Scott, who have created films for Dr. Martens and musician Laura Marling, and were also nominated for a Grammy this year for their live film for Mumford & Sons, « The Road To Red Rocks. »

It was shot on location at the famed Ace Café in London, which is something of a mecca for retro-motorcycle culture and has featured in classic films like « The Leather Boys », and the film’s rock ‘n’ roll aesthetic pefectly matches the brand’s men’s and womenswear pieces, which were styled by Anne-Catherine Frey and Seo In Choi.

Kelly and Lervik aren’t shy: they’ve appeared in a short film for the brand before where they talk about how they met, and their love of dive bar dancing clubs.
