Giorgio Armani Confirms He Wont Sell Company
In speaking to reporters yesterday following the Milan show, Giorgio Armani squashed any rumours of a buyout or a successor, and assured that while he is still alive he will never relinquish control of his label.
“While I am alive, there will be independence,” the Business of Fashion reported of the 81 year old Italian designer. “Soon after, perhaps I will have prepared the ground for a type of independence that is more measured, more controlled.”
The speculation follows on from rumours of several designers being linked with a move to Armani, including Stefano Pilati following his departure from Yves Saint Laurent, along with the company being rumoured to be in talks with conglomerates including LVMH and Hermès, however the label is still controlled independently by Giorgio Armani and his board of directors.
