Christopher Kane has created an exclusive seven-piece capsule collection for Bergdorf Goodman, currently sold in the store along with his 2016 collection. A prominent name in fashion since launching his eponymous line in 2006, Christopher Kane has spent the last decade creating stylish, well-crafted designs featuring eye-catching patterns.
Kane’s seven-piece collection for Bergdorf Goodman features four fitted, drop-waist dresses with knee-length pleated skirts. The dresses are offered with long sleeves and a high, rounded neckline, or with no sleeves at all and a demure scoop-neck, in navy or pink metallic knit fabric. The other three pieces consist of two cocktail dresses and a shirt. Both dresses are sleeveless and knee-length, though one is of lace featuring a black back that creates zig-zag trimming along the sides, while the other is crepe with a lace inset at the waist. The shirt resembles the lace dress, offered in navy with short black sleeves that again create a zig-zag pattern.
Regarding the collection, Kane spoke with Vogue late last month, offering further insight to the playful yet refined pieces. “This was one of those pieces we put in the show, which we thought, It’s so great,” Kane told Vogue. “We didn’t think it was going to be a wow moment, but it’s been a best seller. The collection is a little bit sparkly, but you can wear it with jeans, little loafers or sneakers, or you can dress it up with tuxedo pants.”
While the capsule collection resembles the other pieces available from Bergdorf Goodman’s, there is certainly a definitive separation in style. While the capsule collection offers simpler, more refined pieces in navy, black, and pink, pieces from Kane’s Pre-fall 2016 collection sold alongside provide more color and texture. Among these pieces are a crew-neck sweater and flounced midi-skirt set, each featuring a sheer neon stripe that circles each piece diagonally; a black skirt with multi-color fringe; and a stunning sleeveless cocktail dress featuring a plunging neckline and a vibrant blue stripe of fringe from shoulder to hip.
