The V&A has had recent hits with « David Bowie is » and « Fashion in Motion » and the museum is currently showing « The Glamour of Italian Fashion 1945 – 2014. » Now, in partnership with luxury crystal company Swarovski, the museum will bring Lee Alexander McQueen’s clothes back to his home city: « London’s where I was brought up. It’s where my heart is and where I get my inspiration, » said McQueen in January 2000.

Set to run from March 14 to July 19, 2015, it will be « the first and largest retrospective of McQueen’s work to be presented in Europe » according to the museum, and follows « Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, » an exhibition organized by the Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2011.

The show will span his 1992 MA graduate collection to his unfinished A/W 2010 collection and will be curated by Claire Wilcox, Senior Curator of Fashion, V&A and Professor in Fashion Curation, London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London.

« Savage Beauty is a celebration of the most imaginative and talented designer of our time. Lee was a genius and a true visionary who pushed boundaries, challenged and inspired. He believed in creativity and innovation and his talent was limitless, » commented Sarah Burton, the brand’s current Creative Director.

Tickets went on sale Friday and demand is apparently already running wild.
