Adidas Originals Stan Smith sneakers to make much-anticipated return in 2014

Initially developed in the 1960s for French tennis player Robert Haillet, the iconic footwear was given its Stan Smith moniker in 1971 — he was wearing the design when he won the US Open that year. 

The Stan Smith 2014 comeback edition will be a ‘top of the range’ product, said Adidas, not yet willing to reveal any further details.

The shoe will first be available in limited edition in Adidas Consortium stores in autumn/winter 2013 with pricing expected to be between €100-150, and then in other stores in spring/summer 2014 (standard edition for €90).
