Lorenzo Serafini joins Philosophy by Alberta Ferretti as creative director
The appointment of Lorenzo Serafini as creative director at Philosophy fills a position open since May this year when British designer Natalie Ratabesi left the role, and moved to Los Angeles-based label Vince.
The choice looks solidly Milanese: the designer having trained at the Naba-Nuova Accademia di belle arti di Milano, then working for Roberto Cavalli, before landing at Dolce & Gabbana, all based in the Italian fashion capital.
His first collection will be for the pre-fall 2015 season, with a Fall/Winter 2015 runway debut at Milan fashion week set for February 2015. Serafini described himself as ready to explore « deep and stimulating thoughts and ideas » in his new tenure.
Massimo Ferretti, President of parent company Aeffe, placed the appointment within the context of a wider « journey of creative reorganization of our brands that began several seasons ago » (alongside Alberta Ferretti and Philosophy, Aeffe also produce and distribute fashion labels including Moschino, Emanuel Ungaro and Cédric Charlier). Belgian designer Charlier is set to add a men’s line within the next few seasons, while Moschino and Ungaro have recently been revitalized by the appointments of Jeremy Scott and Fausto Puglisi, respectively.
