Paris menswear: highlights from 3.1 Phillip Lim, Issey Miyake, Rick Owens
3.1 Phillip Lim
Lim sent out his boys in minimalist cuts, sharp-edged tailoring, functional outerwear and boilersuits in a mishmash of plaids, microchecks and stripes. Solid blocks of understated sandy, navy, pale pink and white tones were brightened up by a few reflective finishes.
Issey Miyake
The Japanese label’s designer Yusuke Takahashi went fruity for Spring-Summer 2015 with embroidered and intarsia bananas and pineapples. There was also plenty of blue in the collection from crumpled finishes, tie-dye and gradient prints on suiting to fierce deep sea fish!
Rick Owens
The American designer presented long smocks and coats in a mix of treated denims, embroidery and sportier finishes, worn over shorts with metallic boots. Owens’s usual curveball touch saw one model painted totally white; others appeared in gray, olive and mauve paint from head to toe.
