Junya Watanabe

Spring-Summer 2015 – Watanabe’s collection is like opening a window on a parallel universe. The experimental clothes give us the opportunity to peek into the next centuries and see how we will dress in a distant future.

Fashion becomes a form of Art under Watanbe’s control. It becomes a kind of Art which is able to question the stereotypes of contemporary fashion, going beyond the limits of the body and the common perception of the clothes that we usually wear in order to cover ourselves.

The garments are meant to deconstruct the human figure, recalling the aesthetic of revolutionary movements such as Vorticism and Bauhaus. Thanks to this avant-garde attitude the silhouettes are re-shaped in an innovative manipulation, creating pieces of art made of hi tech synthetic textiles, like the hats used to hide specific elements on the face.

Only the shoes bring us back to our everyday lives.
