Alexander Wang
Spring-Summer 2015 – In a move that wasn’t quite expected of him, Alexander Wang decided to turn his love for sportswear into something a bit different – take inspiration from the trainers themselves.
Beginning the show with what seems like barcodes to symbolise in a way taking the shoes out of the box, each look thereafter featured sleek tailoring and thing elasticated lines reminiscent of our favourite type of shoe – the trainer.
Cut outs, mesh and sophisticated pleats all owed to the aesthetic of sportswear, despite the garments all exuding an elegant and evening wear vibe. Intricate geometric lines contoured to the body in the typical brights of activewear only normally seen on the feet. An interesting development for Wang and a unique one in the sense of finding inspiration from his own past, and being able to give off the sense of activewear whilst keeping it very sleek and sophisticated.
