Spring-Summer 2013 – Understandably, we have all come to expect so much from Marc Jacobs, his Autumn-Winter collection needs no explanation here. Ironically, we never know what to expect, except the unexpected. This Spring-Summer it was all about the stripe. From a basic white T-shirt with a stripped graphic print, to an all encompassing striped outfit featuring skirt, coat, and matching clutch bag. At first glance it wasn’t so much about the silhouette, rather, it was all about stripes whether they be horizontal or vertical, or red, blue or black. The basic fabric composition seemed to be cotton creating knee-length skirts which notable hung low on the hip allowing the midriff to be shown when paired with crop-tops in all styles: neutral and translucent blouses, and one with a Micky Mouse print. Despite the stripes, it was still a versatile collection with monochrome and leopard print added into the mix, along with ‘Mod’ outfits and ruffled collars – innovation is what we expect from Jacobs and innovation is what we got.
