Spring-Summer 2011 – A rather morbid collection for SS11. Oversized black jackets that dragged down their wearier in weight opened the show. Surrealism has always being a strong point for Comme, thus it was no exception that said jacket appeared to have an extra pair of sleeves. This created a sense of displacement which continued throughout the show. White blazers came next, juxtaposing the black cape-like coats. Up next was a compilation of the two, mixing both colour and shape. White trench-like numbers featured a strip of black or an entire sleeve that looked like it belonged to the opening coat rather than the coat it had been fitted with. Long evening dresses were other-worldly with thick heavy pleats and bold contours. Belts and hats were the accessories of choice. Thick buckled bands nipped the weighty dresses in at the waist and cloche hats threw out a twenties moment. This collection was for the surrealist, the typical Comme de Garcons fan.
