Autumn-Winter 2012/13 – The models walking in pairs down the catwalk, creating a strange effect and added to the sense of the clothing, twin-like, matching hats, hair and pedlar cropped trousers; it was unusual. The collection was very twenties-French with silk berets, neat tailoring and soft edges. Sapphire, red, black and navy was moonlit and mysterious, though funkier multicolours transpired towards the end of the collection on shaggy coats and boxed jackets. Appliqué flowers created huge corsage-like waist features, shimmering embellishment and pretty fascinators and the petal-like theme continued with ruffled peplums on skirts and dresses. It was oh-so chic with velvet dresses, pantaloon-style shorts and elbow-length gloves. Huge fringing hanging from the hem was a sign of things to come, and sure enough glittering fringed low-waisted dresses sparkled and heavy accessories gleamed; Armani is as special as ever.
