Roland Mouret

Roland Mouret Women Autumn-Winter 2015 – The timeless elegance we’ve come to expect from Roland Mouret was exactly what we were given this morning as the third day of Paris Fashion Week got on its way.

Showcasing expert craftsmanship and origami-inspired folds Mouret is an expert at French chic. Especially at figure-hugging and form-fitting tailoring, something he proved today. The collection was a love letter to women because Mouret loves women and understands what they want from his designs.
The colour palette was simple and monochrome with splashes of cobalt- blue and punches of fruity shades of beetroot, orange and tomato. Skirts and coat lapels bore origami-like folds which gave the collection a sculptural element, while the use of leather and a lovely blend of sheer organza and winter weight fabrics gave it a sensual one.
Darts, pleats and thin studded leather belts cinching the looks at the waist helped the French designer create his signature hourglass silhouette and execute contemporary femininity. Geometric patchwork – the Roland Mouret way with armoured elegant mini dresses and cropped jackets in deep wintery shades. Models strutted down the catwalk located at Hotel Westin, in blue, grey and black heeled boots complete with zip detailing. Make up was kept natural and hair was worn down with an off-centred parting.

Although he spiced up his simple clean cut lines with geometric patterns, Mouret’s AW15 collection stays faithful to the designer’s simple elegance aesthetic and we wouldn’t want it any other way.
