Roberto Cavalli Spring Summer 2016

Pastel ruffles and bowed booties are just a hint of the ‘80’s theme seen in Peter Dundas’ first collection for Roberto Cavalli. One-shouldered tops with exaggerated bows, high waisted pants and frilled mini dresses are among the silhouettes that harken back to the era in wearable and updated forms.

Oversized jackets and sandblasted denim vests are among the collection’s key outwear pieces along with denim and leather jackets. Metallic gold fringe covers jeans and a denim vest and lengthened zebra print stripe pants and a jean jacket alike. A screen printed lion pattern decorates a tuxedo style jacket and pants, motif that is repeated throughout the collection on pieces ranging from a belted minidress to loose metallic shirt. A leather mini skirt was paired with a faded, oversized tee and a faded tie-dye train. Minidresses abound, ruffled, frilled, belted and featuring lace-up bodices, interrupted by red leather pants and a body-conscious black jumpsuit made of alternating strips of sheer and velvet.

Belts and ankle boots accessorize the colorful collection, along with single long earrings and point-toe lace heels that look more modern than retro. Though a clear reference to the ‘80’s, this sexy collection is renovated in what might be construed as an update for the brand as well, making the clothes wearable for a modern clientele.
