Rick Owens Man Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – Rick Owens once again demonstrates his love for expression. He has commented on the issues surrounding war and how this has affected the way in which he has approached this collection.  The padded constructions that were wrapped and tied around the models, gave a sense of a barrier.  There is also a notion of comfort in the padded materials used.

The models face painted white along with disarranged hair shows a form of struggle and tragedy. This is suggested again with the way the garments are draped on the body. Leather jackets are shaped where one side is extended. Tops and trousers are constructed in a manner whereby it hints at an action of either dressing or undressing. Along with the abstract forms, there are structured jackets with the use of colour blocks. Long sleeves and layering marked the recent trends. Shades of khaki along with the use of black gives a military feel.

At a glance Rick Owens may seem as if he is experimenting and taking risks for the theatrical aspects of his work. However, there is a meaningful message that is being expressed reflecting current political issues.
