PPQ
PPQ Woman Spring Summer 2017 – After viewing the catwalk and with a title of ‘La Fiesta’ it is easy to see that inspiration for this Spring/Summer collection was taken from Spanish dress and culture.
The catwalk was a bright pop of colour fit for the celebration of Spanish fiesta’s. Models looked sun kissed, with glowing skin, a pop of colour with bright red lips, golden eyes and voluminous, short hair. Even the accessories were fit for a Spanish summer, with lightweight, bright scarves around heads, lace up espadrilles on feet, brightly illustrated fans and woven beach bags. The whole collection represented Spanish chic.
PPQ were not restrictive in their colour choice for this collection. There was a broad colour palette for this collection. These ranged from lemon yellow long coats, blue Bardot mini dresses, emerald green midi dresses, blue metallic shorts, fuchsia suits and lilac evening gowns.
Not only were the colours appropriate for a Spanish festivity but the designs were also typically Spanish. Whether long or short many of the dresses had ruffles or tiers, reflective of famous flamenco dresses. Clothing was oversized and baggy, flowed through lightweight fabric or was draped across the models, each of these fitting for a hot summer’s wardrobe. In addition to the shapes a key trend throughout the collection was florals. Sunflowers were illustrated onto dresses and skirts in various colours, multi-coloured floral patterns were complimented by black backgrounds on mini dresses and tulip skirts.
With the word ‘fiesta’ emblazoned onto white tops and Spanish flamenco dancers illustrated onto lilac skirts and floor-length dresses this collection really represented the Spanish atmosphere. With a truly wonderful collection the viewer can’t help but to feel part of a sophisticated Spanish party.
