Philipp Plein
Philipp Plein Woman Spring Summer 2017 – Philipp Plein is synonymous with extravagant runway shows with previous years including giant robots, roller coasters and a sea aquarium. His SS17 show proved to be no different. This year the designer created a twisted fantasy wonderland. Candy coloured ice cream vans rolled around the stage and a flying carousel of models spun high in the air. Plein created a world of sugar-sweet excess to house his show.
The collection was like a time warp to the noughties. Models wore head to toe denim in varying hues with golden embroidery. Alternatively they could be seen in tight black leather jumpsuits and matching jackets. Both of which were stamped with star shaped cut-outs. Shapes tended to be form fitting and often included high slits or bare midriffs.
There were excessive amounts of flashy jewellery and gold-chained stilettos adorned the models’ feet. Chains wrapped around their bodies like restraints and many wore street-style snapback caps and sunglasses. The spectacle of the show came as no surprise but was entertaining nonetheless.
